(Gen 3:22 KJV) And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
The reality is that we are more than animals. We are more than just highest level primates. No other animal tortures its own kind as humans do. No other animal aborts its young by the millions before they are born as we do. No other animal pollutes and destroys it's own environment as mankind does. No other animal changes its sex like Homo Sapiens. No other animal serial murder and kills it's own kind like we do. No other animal builds weapons that can destroy the earth and end life's existence. We are definitely more than animals. Dare I say it? We are Gods or at least Demi-Gods!!
(1 Th 5:23 KJV) And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
To be fair, mankind has also cured diseases and relieved suffering, created great monuments of stone and steel, and even has made it to space and the moon. I must admit however, that I'm not sure these are all "Good" things. Yet they show that mankind is more than an animal. He/ she also has a spirit and a soul. We all have a soul that needs to be preserved blameless until the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
(Gen 2:7 KJV) And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
It has only been recently that the breath of life has been photographed. (See illustrations). The colors of the aurora around the body are brilliant and the subject of health science even now. Gaining in credibility, the aurora is used to diagnose diseases and effect cures. Even more importantly, what we see is that at the very least the radiance of our God given spirit. The reality of spirit!
The soul, by God's design, must be understood in faith. Just as the body is keep alive by the spirit (God's breath of life) so is the soul. Man/Woman became a living (embodied) soul! (Gen 2:7 above). The soul must not be overlooked nor ignored for it is the focus of one of God's great commandments and the very purpose to life.
(Mat 22:37 KJV) Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. (Mat 22:38 KJV) This is the first and great commandment.
Just as the body has a brain and heart so the Soul has a mind and heart of it's own. These work in concert with the body to give us conscienceness and satients thinking (self-awareness, theoretical thoughts). Clicking on the icon to the right will bring up a chart of the spiritual body.
The heart and mind of the soul uses the brain and body (though the spirit) to experience time and existence which develops the wealth of the souls personality, character, philosophy, morality and of course identity. Just as the body grows and develops so does ones soul! It is so important that we learn how to control this growth process for our Lord warns:
(Mat 15:18 KJV) But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. (Mat 15:19 KJV) For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornication, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
It is a sad reality, a fact, that human races spiritual heart is diseased. I have already listed just some of the human record. More understanding can be reached through the Human History link.
